FCPS (Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan)
FCPS (Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan) is a postgraduate degree awarded by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) upon completion of specialized training in chosen area of specialization and passing the examination in that specific specialty. CPSP has provided accreditation to Chitwan Medical College for FCPS training since November, 2016 for the programs: Internal Medicine, General surgery and Diagnostic radiology. The program Gynecology and Obstetrics was later added on 2017. And recently, since August 2018, CMC has been accredited for FCPS training for 4 new programs namely Anaesthesiology, Cardiology, Orthopedic surgery and Pulmonology.
Intake and application: As per CPSP policy [depending upon receipt of the application from the trainee (throughout the year) and availability of the supervisor at the institute]. After fulfilling the prerequisites of the FCPS training, the potential candidates will be interviewed for selection by the Post Graduate (PG) committee at Chitwan Medical College.
Next steps after application
The clinical rotation will begin subsequent to signing of the joining letter by the candidate.
The training period is meticulously supervised, with the trainees required to be registered (mandatory requirement) with the R&RC (Registration and Research Cell) within 30 days of commencement of their training. The training guidelines are in accordance with the CPSP guidelines.
CMC has also been arranging rotations for FCPS residents (studying at other institutions) in different sub-specialties in the hospital.
Tuition fees: None
Stipend and allowance: FCPS residents will receive stipend and facilities equivalent to MD/MS residents at the institution
