MPH (Master in Public Health)

MPH course is designed to enable multidisciplinary health professionals to upgrade their competency, especially in achieving PHC goals. After completion of he course, graduates are expected to take up the role of leaders, essentially as generalists with preventive, promotive, curative, rehabilitative and management abilities.

Program Overview

CMC is an ISO certified institution affiliated to Institute of Medicine under Tribhuwan University committed to bring out the best of its public health education through its teaching institution and community engagement. Masters of Public Health (MPH) program offered by CMC is a Two year course, which proposes a professional public health specialist.

An individual with masters of public health degree will have opportunities for working in specific setting of health system (public, private, nonprofit), academic institutions, hospitals, industries, training and research institutions and for profit organizations as a public health expert, specialist or managers at national and international level.

There is high demand of public health professionals in formulation and implementation of public health act and related policies and activities at national and international arena.

GOALS OF THE PROGRAM

The goals of the program are to produce:

  • To prepare public health specialists with an ability to comprehend existing and emerging public health problems.
  • To plan and manage the programme alternative to solve them optimally,
  • To intensity PHC activities at all levels.
  • To provide leadership in health related education, service and research.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Those who are interested in admission to the master of Public Health (MPH) programme should have fulfilled the following requirements:

  1. Academic qualification in Bachelor in Health Science in any of the following subjects: Public Health, Public Health Nutrition, Nutrition and Health, Pharmacy, Medical Biochemistry, Medical laboratory, Health Promotion and Education, Optometry Education, Epidemiology, Radiography, Environmental health, Occupational Health, Post graduate diploma in health Promotion and Education, Nursing, Speech, Audiology language, Medicine and Surgery, Physiotherapy, Pathology, Dentistry and Veterinary Science.
  2. Applicant with above degrees must be registered in a relevant professional council related to their bachelor degree.
  3. One year work experience in health sector after bachelor degree in above-mentioned subjects.
  4. Candidates should pass the entrance examination of Institute of Medicine.

CANDIDATE SELECTION PROCESS

Eligible candidates should appear for the entrance exam conducted by IOM, Exam section and the merit list will be published based on the marks secured in the entrance examination. The candidate selection and admission will then be done following the guidelines set by IOM.

FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

International students should have an eligibility certificate from the concerned authority of their country, a valid student visa (if visa is required to stay in Nepal) and eligibility certificate issued by IoM or Ministry of Education of Nepal.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

After fulfilling the aforementioned criteria, students have to visit CMC College along with the guardians and have to present the original copies of all the academic certificates. Thereafter, students have to fill up necessary documents and agreement papers as per the rules and requirements of CMC.

MEDICAL FITNESS

Successful candidates will have to undergo medical test by a Medical Board constituted by the College and must be declared fit for final admission.

PROGRAM DETAIL

MPH programme is of two years full time academic course. The students will follow the academic calendar prepared by the concerned department.

DRESS CODE

Students should be in the prescribed dress code of the institute in college/hospital premises. No student will be allowed to enter the college compound without proper uniform in college days. CMC believes appropriate dressing is important for creation of positive learning environment.
