The Department of Pediatrics at Chitwan Medical College, Bharatpur has the perfect balance of experience and expertise along with world class infrastructure and technologies that offer outstanding care for children.

  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)- 16 bedded NICU well equipped with 5 Bubble CPAP
  • a High flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
  • 7 Mechanical Ventilator and a High frequency ventilator( HFV) NICU provides care for high risk neonates with exchange transfusion, PICC line placement and point of care sonography, echocardiography and  blood gas analyzer. 

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 17-bed, family-centred, regional referral centre for pediatric intensive care equipped with 4 High flow nasal cannula (HFNC),  10 Mechanical Ventilator. The unit is staffed by a full-time DM pediatric intensivist and pediatric critical care nurses, each experienced in Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Pediatric specialists, in various medical and surgical specialties, are available for immediate consultation. Procedure performed are central venous line placement, arterial line placement, bone marrow aspiration, peritoneal dialysis and facility for hemodialysis.

Service.

CMC has one of the best pediatric centers in the county with highly equipped NICU, Nursery, and PICU.  Children from Chitwan and many surrounding districts of Province 3, Province 2, Province 4 and Province 5 benefit from our critical care facility. Patients also benefit from our regular outpatient service and immunization service is provided every Wednesday (as per national immunization program).

We have recently completed prospective study in febrile convulsions. Other active research is continuing in Scrub typhus and Neonatal sepsis.
