Introduction

The Department of Adult Health Nursing plays a key role in the preparation of undergraduate and postgraduate nursing students at Chitwan Medical College School of Nursing. The department provides numerous theoretical and clinical courses that focus on health and deviations of health among adults. The department has following roles

a. Teaching (both theoretical and practical) to students on health and deviations of health among adults. Raising awareness among them.

b. Communicate with other specialities regarding adult health and deviations 

c. Spreading awareness of health and its deviations among other speciality, patients, care givers and general public 

d. Teaching and guiding the students in educational and research related activities

Goals 

Goal of Adult Health Nursing Department is be a model department in the School of Nursing that provides an excellent academic environment where nursing scholarship and skills are comparable to international standards.

Objectives

1. Produce graduate and post graduate nurses with advanced knowledge and skills, capable of utilising the most current evidence to deliver safe and competent care to diverse people at local and international levels.

2. Cultivate an environment of collaboration, excellence, discovery, and creativity for learning, scholarship and professional development.

3. Promote excellence in research and creative endeavours.

Physical Infrastructure

Adult Nursing Department has one HOD room and two faculty rooms along with one departmental library. We have well equipped skill lab with advanced models and other learning materials to teach psychomotor skills and nursing care to the students in a safe environment. Further, students are posted in different units of our Chitwan Medical College Teaching Hospital (CMC-TH) which is well equipped tertiary care hospital and referral centre.

Academic Activities

Academic activities start at 8am to 4 pm whereas clinical activities start in shift basis. Morning shift start at 7am to 3pm, and evening shift is from 11am to 7pm. 

Faculty members are involved in teaching learning activities of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. For the smoothness of the program, weekly schedule is prepared and distributed to all faculties.

Lecture Classes: Postgraduate students conduct individual seminars, group seminars and attain interactive lectures during their study period
