Department of obstetrics and gynecology in Chitwan Medical College- Teaching Hospital is run by well experienced and dedicated team. This department is committed in taking care of women’s reproductive and fertility issues. The department is providing its obstetric services under the safe motherhood program of the Government of Nepal in coordination with the Department of Pediatrics. Safe abortion services and family planning services are also available as per the guidelines of the government. This is a well-equipped centre performing various complicated surgeries thus becoming one of the best referral centres aiding to the nearby regions in the Central Nepal. Annually approximately 3000 deliveries (vaginal and caesarean deliveries) and 1000 gynecological surgeries are being conducted with minimal complications. Recently, the department has extended its services in Assisted Reproduction, gynecologic endoscopic surgery and cancer screening 

Department of obstetrics and gynecology is equally engaged in different academic activities for undergraduate and postgraduates and are also involved in various clinical and scientific research and publications.

Objectives:

a. To provide highest quality care to our patients through ethical and evidence based practice.

b. To serve the community from grass root level by conducting free health camps and cooperating with various Government projects

c. To uplift the field of medical education and produce highly responsive and committed health professionals in the field of medicine specifically obstetrics and Gynecology through different academic programmes
